What Is the Difference Between Active and Passive Components? |

The difference between active and passive components is whether there is a power supply inside the electronic component. When the electronic components work, there is no internal power supply of any form, this device is called passive devices, that is, passive components, relative to the electronic components with internal power supply, there are (active components) source devices. The term Passive Components comes from the Taiwan region of China, and their electronics industry calls some electronic product accessories electronic Components, just to distinguish it from Active Components. Through the reform and opening up in the last century, advanced Taiwanese products and production enterprises have successively invested in the mainland, introducing the term electronic components to the mainland. Up to now, the name of active and passive components is still used in China. Among them, the active component usually refers to the integrated circuit, while the passive component refers to the ceramic vibration, crystal vibration, transformer capacitance, resistance, inductance and other parts.
An active component is an electrical appliance that performs the task of breaking current in a circuit. Passive element refers to the electrical apparatus that can only passively withstand the impact of overcurrent in the circuit, but cannot perform the task of breaking. The overcurrent mentioned herein refers to overload and short circuit. From the nature of the circuit, passive devices (passive components) have two basic characteristics: 1. do not consume electrical energy themselves, or convert electrical energy into different forms of other energy. 2. Need input signal, do not need external power supply can work normally.
